"Red Snow" was discovered seldom below 10,000 feet, in Colorado
A writer by the name of Sir John Ross discovered "Red Snow" Arapahoe Peak in August 1914. The writer was taking a class of university students to the peak when he thought he saw blood in the snow. Red Snow comes from a plant organism called Chlaydomas nivalis and is found only at high altitudes
